An upholstered headboard: an elegant way to enhance your bedroom

There are many ways to make a bed stand out, using different types of headboards… what about an elegant canopy, an old door or a traditional screen? On this occasion we would like to explore the idea of an upholstered headboard, using our sumptuous textile collections.

It’s important to make a good choice with the type of fabric you use, because a thick textile with peculiar washing requirements (dry clean only) is not the same as a fabric that allows you to wash it frequently in the washing machine.

If the fabric is a machine-washable linen, making a loose slipcover that can be tucked in and out of a geometrically shaped headboard is a great option. What’s more, you can always leave the seams visible, in a colour that contrasts with the fabric.

If, on the other hand, the fabric is velvet or any other type of upholstery textile (with a high abrasion or resistance index, a Martindale above 30,000), the classic padded upholstery with tacks is also a great option, and you can choose geometric or stately styles.

Here are some inspiring photos where we have used the following fabric collections as examples:

El Mercader. Linens in 18 unique colours of natural pigments which can be used to create headboard covers with a minimal style. Advantages: can be frequently washed.

Venezia. Smooth velvets in more than 150 colours treated with Teflon that repel stains for a more palatial or sophisticated upholstery.

Iceland. A spectacular range of 68 pigments that radiate the force of island nature.
