Imagine the Guggenheim in Bilbao covered in the Levels wallcovering design

The Guggenheim is celebrating its 22nd anniversary and Coordonné is marking the occasion by covering it with one of the designs from our Mies collection.

We are loyal fans of this building and all that it signified for the city of Bilbao when it was opened.

In 1997 the city came alive with cultural events and it saw the beginning of an artistic, exultant era in the city’s history.

It got us thinking about which wall covering would be best suited for this building. We decided that Fran O. Gehry would have gone for our Levels Ultramarine design because it enhances the volume and perspective of this colossal construction.

The colour range of this wall covering, with its greys and cobalt blues, mimics the sky and the sea which are visible from the city, generating a poetic rhythm with the museum’s shapes.

The wall covering chosen to create this optical illusion comes from the Mies collection, which pays homage to Mies van der Rohe, who coincides, in terms of vision and passion, with many of the urbanistic and rational criteria of Frank O. Gehry.
